Research is a process to explore the facts in the systematic and scientific manner. In more descriptive way a research is the combination of three steps:
1. Scientific problem
2. Methodology
3. Conclusion
In simple words "Research" is the phenomena of observing something either deliberately or without deliberation, than identifying the problem and finding out the causes for that problem and/or presenting the possible solutions.
Every time researchers want to find out a solution for possible problem he/she has to enter in this cycle.
Types of research:
There are two types of researches:
1.Quantitative research
2.Qualitative research
Researchers can apply either qualitative or quantitative research method or they can use the combination of both researches that is named as mixed research.
1.Quantitative research:
Quantitative research is use to find out the relationship between the studied variables. This type of research is basically used to develop the mathematical models, hypothesis and theories. Quantitative way of researchers believe that everything in the world is measureable and if it is not then they convert the qualitative variables in quantitative by likert scale.
2.Qualitative research:
Qualitative research is used for in-depth study of the human behavior. This type of research believes that every human being is different in his attitude and behavior. Here hypothesis are not made. Theories are not tested rather they are evolved in qualitative research. It is very time consuming and detail study.
3.Mixed research:
The combination of qualitative way of research and quantitative way of research is mixed research.
Types of Approaches in Research:
There are two types of approaches in any research. These are:
1.Inductive approach:
Inductive approach is one where you research is intended to start with specificity and then lead to the general concept. It moves from specific to general. Researchers start with narrow concept and make it more generalized afterward.
For example: George died in mid 70’s, John died in 80’s and Jenifer died in 90’s. From this we concluded that every human being will die.
2.Deductive approach:
In deductive approach we deduce the concepts. Researchers start from general concepts and then make in more specific. It narrows down the concept. It moves from general to specific.
For example: All human beings in the world will die. From this we concluded that Alex will die too.
